LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy for Adults in Texas and Florida
You shouldn't have to spend your first three sessions teaching your therapist about your life. Maybe you're questioning your gender or sexuality, coming out later than you expected, dealing with family who doesn't accept you, or just worn down by living somewhere your rights are debated on the news.
I'm Nicole Obih, LCSW, a Black queer therapist offering online LGBTQ+ affirming therapy to adults anywhere in Texas and Florida. Your identity isn't the problem we're here to fix. It's part of who you are, and it's welcome here.

What we can work on
Exploring or questioning your gender or sexuality, at your own pace
Coming out, or deciding not to yet
Family rejection and distance from people you love
Anxiety and depression tied to discrimination or political stress
Internalized shame and the voice that says you're "too much"
Relationships, dating, and chosen family
Being BIPOC and queer, trans, or nonbinary, and not feeling fully at home in either space
What's often underneath
Many LGBTQ+ adults learned early to watch themselves: to edit how they talked, dressed, or loved so they'd be safe. That vigilance can follow you into adulthood as anxiety, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected from yourself. Therapy is a place to put that guard down and notice who you are without it.
How I work
I don't treat your identity as something to diagnose or debate. We'll focus on what you came in for, whether that's identity, family, relationships, or something that has nothing to do with being queer. My approach is trauma-informed and affirming, draws on proven methods like CBT and ACT, and moves at a pace that feels safe.
What can change
Early on, therapy is somewhere you can say things you haven't said out loud. Over time, the goal is less shame, clearer boundaries with family, steadier relationships, and more room to be yourself in more parts of your life.
Who this is for
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, queer, trans, nonbinary, asexual, and questioning adults 18 and older in Texas and Florida, including BIPOC LGBTQ+ folks and people in polyamorous or open relationships. If identity-based stress is also about race, see racial trauma therapy. Partners can work together in couples therapy.
